Cookie policy
Last updated:
Etases keeps browser storage to the minimum needed to work well. Analytics and advertising cookies are used only if you accept them in the cookie bar, and you can change your mind at any time.
What we use
- Your theme choice (light or dark), saved in your browser’s local storage so the site looks the way you chose.
- Your answer to the cookie notice, saved in local storage so we do not show it again.
- Security and sign-in data needed to keep your account safe once you sign in to the app.
These are strictly necessary for the service to work, so they do not require separate consent.
Analytics and advertising (only with your consent)
If you choose “Accept” in the cookie bar, we also load these tools. If you choose “Reject” or close the bar, none of them is loaded.
- Google Analytics 4 (Google): measures how visitors use the site - pages viewed, how they arrived, device type and approximate location.
- Meta Pixel (Meta Platforms - Facebook and Instagram): measures visits and sign-ups that come from our ads on Facebook and Instagram, and helps show our ads to people likely to be interested.
- TikTok Pixel (TikTok): does the same for our ads on TikTok.
- X Pixel (X Corp.): does the same for our ads on X (formerly Twitter).
These tools set cookies and receive technical data such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit and when you send the sign-up form or tap a WhatsApp button. We never send them your name, phone number or anything you type in the form. Each provider handles that data under its own privacy policy and may process it outside Egypt.
We do not sell browsing data, and students’ data inside the Etases app is never used for advertising.
Analytics
We measure visits with Matomo, a privacy-friendly analytics tool that runs on our own server (analytics.vlancy.com). It works without cookies, records anonymous page views (pages visited, referring site, device type and approximate country) and is never shared with advertisers or used to track you across other websites.
Our site is delivered through Cloudflare, which also measures anonymous page views and page speed with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It does not use cookies, does not identify you and is not used to track you across other websites.
How to control them
You can change your answer at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page. If you withdraw your consent, we remove these tools’ cookies from our site and stop loading them.
You can also delete or block cookies and local storage from your browser settings. If you do, the site will still work, but it may not remember your theme choice, and you may need to sign in again.
