Acceptable use and prohibited content policy
Last updated:
This policy sets out what may and may not be published, sold, streamed or shared on Etases (اتأسس) - our website, web app, mobile apps and related services - operated by Vlancy LTD. It applies to every user: teachers, centers and academies that offer courses and classes (“Providers”), and students, parents and guardians who use them (“Learners”). It forms part of our Terms of Service and the Teacher Agreement.
Who this policy applies to
This policy covers everything on or sent through Etases, including courses, lessons, videos, live classes, files, exams, descriptions, public pages, reviews, comments and messages.
Providers are responsible for the content they and their teachers and assistants publish. Etases does not review content before it is published and does not endorse it. Applying this policy does not make Etases responsible for any content, and our decision not to act on a piece of content does not mean we approve it.
Prohibited courses and content
You must not publish, sell, stream, upload or share on Etases any content that:
- Infringes copyright, trademarks or other intellectual property rights, including pirated or copied courses, other people’s books, videos or materials used without a licence, and content you are not authorised to resell.
- Is illegal, or promotes, facilitates or explains how to commit an illegal act.
- Is sexual, pornographic or sexually suggestive.
- Exploits, sexualises or endangers minors in any way, or is inappropriate for the age of the students it is offered to.
- Contains hate speech, or discriminates against, harasses, bullies, threatens or humiliates any person or group, including on the grounds of religion, race, nationality, gender or disability.
- Promotes or glorifies violence, terrorism or violent extremism.
- Promotes or sells weapons, drugs or other controlled substances.
- Promotes illegal gambling or betting.
- Promotes financial scams, “get rich quick” schemes, pyramid or multi-level marketing (MLM) schemes, or gives financial or investment advice or trading signals without the licence required by law.
- Makes medical, health or psychological claims or gives treatment advice without the required qualification, or encourages anything dangerous, such as self-harm, eating disorders or unsafe challenges.
- Leaks, sells or promises exam questions or answers, helps students cheat, or supports any form of academic fraud.
- Offers or sells certificates, degrees or qualifications that the Provider is not authorised to award, or presents an Etases completion record as an official qualification.
- Teaches or enables hacking, malware, fraud, phishing, identity theft or bypassing security or copy protection, or contains malware or links to harmful sites.
- Shares personal data, photos or recordings of other people without their consent.
- Is false or misleading, including false advertising, guaranteed grades or results, fake qualifications and fake reviews.
- Is political campaigning or electoral content where such content is restricted by law.
- Breaks the rules of the app stores through which the Etases mobile apps are distributed.
- Is illegal in the country of the Provider or of the Learners it is offered to.
This list gives examples and is not complete. We may treat other content as prohibited where it is harmful, unlawful or unsuitable for an education platform.
Prohibited conduct
You must not:
- Download, record, screen-capture, copy, resell, share or publish any course, lesson or live class, in whole or in part, without the written permission of the Provider who owns it.
- Share your account, sign-in codes or course access with anyone else, or use tools to get around device limits, watermarks or other protection.
- Ask students or parents to pay outside Etases for a course or class that is sold through Etases.
- Send spam, or contact students or parents for purposes unrelated to teaching.
- Try to access other users’ accounts or data, test or break our security, overload the service, or copy, reverse-engineer or resell it.
Content protection and its limits
Etases applies reasonable technical measures to protect paid content, such as protected streaming without download, a watermark with the viewer’s details, limits on the number of devices per account, and screen-capture limits where the device and operating system allow it.
No technical system can fully prevent content from being copied, recorded or redistributed, for example by filming a screen with another device. Etases does not guarantee that content will never be copied, leaked or shared.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Etases is not liable for any unauthorised copying, recording, sharing, leaking or theft of content by Learners, other users or third parties, or for any loss of income, students or reputation that results from it. The person who copies or shares the content is responsible for it.
By publishing content on Etases, Providers acknowledge this risk and accept that keeping their own copies, and taking any legal action against the person who infringed their rights, is their responsibility.
Reporting content and infringement notices
If you see content that breaks this policy or the law, or you believe content on Etases infringes your rights, write to [email protected] with:
- A link to, or a clear description of, the content.
- Why you believe it breaks this policy or infringes your rights, and proof of your rights where relevant.
- Your name and contact details, and a statement that the information in your notice is accurate.
We review notices within a reasonable time and may remove or restrict content while we look into it. Where the law allows, we may share a notice with the person who published the content so they can respond. We cooperate with lawful takedown requests and with competent authorities.
If your own course has been shared outside Etases without permission, tell us. We will help where we reasonably can, for example by identifying the account from the watermark where possible and suspending it, but we are not obliged to take legal action on your behalf.
What happens when the rules are broken
If we reasonably believe that content or conduct breaks this policy, the Terms of Service, the Teacher Agreement or the law, we may, with or without prior notice:
- Hide, restrict, remove or permanently delete the content.
- Suspend or close the accounts involved, including Learner accounts that copy or share content.
- Hold or withhold payouts related to the content or conduct in question, where permitted by law and the Teacher Agreement, and refund affected Learners under our Refund Policy.
- Report the matter to the police or other competent authorities, and keep and share related information where the law requires or allows it.
Where it is safe and lawful, we will tell the account holder what action we took and why. If you think we made a mistake, write to [email protected] and we will review our decision. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for any loss caused by action we take in good faith under this policy.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy, for example to reflect changes in the law or new types of harmful content. Important changes will be notified in advance, as described in the Terms of Service.
